Week 4 Peer Reviews

For Week4 we are examining Peer Reviewed Journals. By the title alone we are able to discern this meaning. Peer Review means that articles that are submitted for publication are reviewed by other peers in that field before a final draft. For this week’s reading peer reviewed journals can be easily found through Leatherby Libraries in either Academic Search Premier or Academic OneFile.

MEAL PLAN FOR ARTICLE REVIEW WRITING
I also want to remind everyone of the importance of your main idea thesis. Prominent in the MEAL plan which we have covered previously, the majority of the assignments turn in to me started very rough.

The article entitled _______ by the authors ____,____ & _____  examines  the subject of ______.

Something to this effect which a student could fill in the blanks.

For this weeks assignment on EBooks I selected the book entitled ____by ____ which focuses on the subject of _______

Week 2 Replies

Hello Mr. Mac-- I was wondering if you are looking for the replies in the Intro/Welcome/1st week blogs or if you are expecting them to be in the week 2 posts? The assignment for week 2, "Post a comment on one of your classmate’s blogs to discuss their post from last week"

Great question, I was looking for the responses in week 2 but what you posted makes sense. For week 2 I will reevaluate who posted in the introduction welcome and give full credit for the reply. In future weeks please respond to the current week. Next of which is week 5. Much in the same way that you would for a weekly discussion board. Otherwise it makes it very hard to track down those who posted for the current week.

In future the replies will read:
Post a comment on one of your classmate’s blogs to discuss their weekly post. Please make sure your response aligns with the week you are receiving credit for (Week 2 reply respond to Week 2 Post)

Student Blog replies

I disappointed to see how few people created and wrote replies to their classmates with 30+ students, the number of students replying was less than half of our class for week 2. For those of you that didn’t do it (look at the blog reply week 2 column) I will assign 10 out of the 17 points to late replies. Please remember to do your reply the next time it is assigned for week 5.

LBSU 302 online: Posting a comment through blogspot/ Classmate blog post

I have had a lot of student comments about how to post replies to another classmate. First of all make sure you are signed into your blogspot account by first signing into google.

The easiest steps to signing in and posting to another classmate can be accomplished in this order:

Go to
http://libgentech.blogspot.com

At the top right of the screen will be the link to sign in. Sign into your google gmail account.

Once you are signed in scroll down to the class blog list. My hope is that you will select a class member who has not received a class reply rather than everyone responding to a single person. Spread the wealth and around! Hopefully this will also generate more class discussion…

Click on the button below their post and click "no comments" or "4 comments"

You will not see a reply button only a link to click that states no comments or will list how many comments. Make sure you are signed into your Google account or this link will not be visible.

Hope this helps! Good luck and email me if it does not work!

In some of your blog posts I have started to see different background text colors that make it hard to see what you have posted

To clear this issue I would recommend copying and pasting your blog post into Microsoft Word first and remove all formatting. This is a symbol icon that looks like an A with an eraser.

This should clear up this common issue in posting

Blog posts

I am very pleased to see all the great class blogs, yet I am still missing about 12 students whom I have not received websites from.

As previously discussed in the last announcement our focus for writing will be through reflection in your blog and not on the discussion boards. You will still turn in written assignments, but your assignment reflection and what you have learned within the week will be written in a blog post. I will expect each of you to write in detail what you have found so I can give you a grade for your blog posts each week. I should also expect to see from each of you replies to two other students in your class. I would prefer that each week you respond to someone new each week instead of posting to just one individual. You will be graded on blog replies as well as your blog posts and written assignments.
